Knit a Christmas Jumper and Save Lives

A couple of weeks ago the lovely people at Save the Children invited me to a Knitterati event in London. Knitting bloggers from all over the country were invited to spend an evening with Debbie Bliss and knit Christmas Jumpers big and small for the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day. I loved this idea. Unfortunately I was unable to go to the event. Boo Hoo! I really wish I had been there.

But inspired by Debbie’s Christmas Jumper Egg Cosy, I have adapted the pattern to make this Rocky Robin Jumper Egg Cosy, which I hope to auction at my local Knit and Natter Group.

On 14th December, more than 250,000 people (and counting!) will be wearing a festive woolly to school, offices and workplaces all across the UK, with everyone taking part donating £1 to Save the Children.

Money raised from Christmas Jumper Day will help bring life-saving care to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

You can find out more and sign up to take part in Christmas Jumper day at: http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumper-day

Debbie Bliss and TB Ramsden have designed some fabulous knitting patterns, so do go and have a look at the sight and get knitting.

There are jumper patterns and the fabulous egg cosy pattern.

There are heaps of downloadable resources, including organisers’ kits and teacher’s packs if you want to get your school, friends or workplace involved too. There are also posters, tips and template emails to help spread the wore d, as well as the all-important paying-in form so all donations are safely sent to Save the Children.

I love the fact that our craft is able to bring a smile to so many faces and those Christmas Jumpers can get dusted off and have a grand woolly day out!
