Thanks to a little recommendation from one of my twitter friends @brookeslay I tracked down this new book Handmade Glamping by Charlotte Liddle and Lucy Hopping. It is published by Cico and I am always think their books have great visual appeal.
When we go camping there isn’t much up the Glam involved in the whole process. If you run a mile from outdoors vacationing I still think this book is well worth a gander. There are lots of projects I really like. A couple of crochet projects that I think are fab.
I was particularly attracted to this coaster pattern. Sometimes the most relaxing thing for me to do is to rustle up something using a pattern from another designer. All of the hooky action and none of the stress inducing pattern writing responsibility.
I made two coasters using this pattern as my base. Instead of adding a felt backing, as suggested. I made a simple circle to back the popcorn pattern and made it into a potholder. The ideal ‘thank-you’ present for a weekend staying with friends.
I love the ways Cico use illustrations in their craft books and there are a number of sewing techniques in this book which have now made sense to me.
Pretty, pretty, pretty and practical
