What have I created? – Xmas Jumper fun

xmasjumper3Do you feel a little bit rushed at this time of year? I little bit on the edge? Mmmm same here. It has been a busy few weeks at Varnam towers. There have been some large, big, huge events in the other parts of my life and running like a trickling stream in the background a series of fab but daunting yarn commissions. I think I am nearly there but Christmas seems far off and at the same time worryingly close. Tis ever thus – and I have myself to blame.

Precisely on this point, Little B and I had a little conversation this week. He reminded me that Friday is Christmas Jumper day. A lovely fun idea. Last year I celebrated the day like this. Yep a lovely fun idea, which I had totally forgotten.

Little B had in his mind a vision of what he would like to see on a Christmas Jumper. If you read this blog for any time you will have guessed what the main feature would be. He was very keen to draw me how it should look and indeed provide a key so I would know what all the colours were…..very helpful. I did point out that 4 days was not really enough time to knit a jumper….he pointed out that I could sew it instead…..oh yes so I could.

Really I am being very cheeky here, because with all the pressures of life, the least I can do at this time for him is spend a wee while at the sewing machine. So Tuesday night was sewing night. I got out a bog-standard sweatshirt, some scraps of felt and the miraculous bond-a-web. I had a fab time in the end. Plus seeing the designer’s face in the morning was just a delight. He was very pleased, but did point out that I had swapped the colours for the beak and the flippers….like I say – what have I created?
