The ‘So-Easy’ Super Furry Cowl

touch1

The internet is full of top-tip ideas. Lots of ‘How-to rearrange you life’ blog posts. I read quite a lot of them. (The answer to the ones I read generally involves bicarbonate of soda and elbow grease). I wonder if many bloggers keep the real secrets to themselves. Well in the spirit of generosity I have to share with you this great little tip. Sirdar have launched ‘Touch’ which is a very soft fashion yarn. Now proper knitters can be a bit sniffy about fashion yarns. This is not pure wool or glorious alpaca. But it is very soft, very cosy and very reasonably priced.

Fun fur and bright colours is all the rage at the moment and you wear a little accent of this fashion trend without paying out for a really expensive or short-lived coat. You may look at me and say ‘Well I am a classic girl, this kind of thing is not for me’. Well yes I hear you, but oh-my this neck warmer is so very soft and snuggly it would be worth making one for the early morning dog-walks, wrapped cosily beneath the waterproof.

One ball of Touch yarn will make you a super-soft cowl. The great news is that the pattern is on the ball band. All you need are some 10mm needles. Secondly there are no specialist knitting skills required. If you can cast-on, knit a basic stocking stitch and cast-off you are ready to go. Finally this make is the work of one evening. You can sit on the sofa, put on a festive film or watch a sparkly dance competition and voilà – one beautiful handmade pressie for a dear friend. As you can see I have quite few cowls to make for the pressie list.

I just couldn’t keep that secret to myself.
