Right at the beginning of this blog journey I was making a blanket for my dear friend who had just got pregnant. She had talked about wanting to learn to crochet, so that she could make a lovely blanket for her nursery. After a little while I went out and bought her a ball of wool and a hook and said, ‘If you need any help, you know where I am’. After a while I suspected that the blanket of Granny Squares would not appear before the birth of little one. So as a maternity leave pressie I made her Wavy Waiting Blanket and Cushion.

A week before she disappeared off to wait for the arrival of her little babe, she asked me to sit down with her and go through the basics of crochet. We must have spend 10/15 minutes together. I know she is like me and in many ways likes to solve a problem with a book on her lap and working things out by herself, unwatched… Well, baby is but a few days away and TaDAHHHH!

Here is a beautiful cushion in waiting, ready to be sewn up for the nursery. I am so proud and excited. The hook is flying away with beautiful little squares…Now I can’t wait to see the little one who will occupy the beautiful nursery his mummy is making for him.

Do you know it was all little left-over bits of the old stash. There was some Sublime, but also a lovely spun Alpaca and if I can remember it I will tell you x
