Blighty Teacosy – Diamonds are Forever

I mentioned last week that I had been working on a little free pattern in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Thoughts had been milling about my brain for a while. I decided that I wouldn’t use the Union Flag, because I wanted to make it translatable for other circumstances. Because Easter is approaching too I added an eggcosy as well, for those special Sunday brunches.

I think this pattern is fairly simple for a beginner and if you have never made an I-cord before, then this is your opportunity. I love using an I-cord on a teacosy as it provided handy loops to hang up the cosy in the kitchen.

I am actually very fond of the eggcosy because as Little B says, it looks like this egg is wearing an ‘Olympic bobble-hat’. I wonder has Stella McCartney designed a bobble hat for the British Olympic team? Now that’s vintage!

My version of the teacosy has a very BLING button, but if you don’t feel so inclined go for the classic pom-pom instead. So during the street parties in June or sitting down to watch the 100 metres what could be more patriotic than pouring tea from your Blighty teapot.

If you fancy making one please feel free to download the pattern here
