The Boyfriend Tie – Handmade Living magazine

One of the most joyful experienced I have found since having a blog, is making new friends and new connections. The lovely people at Handmade Living did a feature on my blog back in the Autumn, and then came back to me to commission a few crochet items. I really do enjoy mixed craft magazines and it was a joy working with the editor Charlotte. She had in mind a ‘vintage’ knitted tie ready for Valentines day.

I have to say I really enjoyed making this. The trick was making the material fine enough to be practical and make into sensible knot. How I got the finished item passed Little B without some serious road testing, I will never know. He is a big fan of the Windsor knot, his grandfather taught me at a young age to tie my school tie like this, and I repeated the tradition this year. It is a dapper thing to behold and brings a smile to this soppy sentimental face every school morning.

If you are interested the patten is in the March edition. Also within this issue is an excellent article on Kaffe Fassett. A long time textile hero of mine. I also fancy making these jaunty ‘weather’ fridge magnets.

I am sure these Vikings would amuse Little B no end, if I could find the time to make them.

And I just love this raincoat, so pretty…. ah the ambition…back to the crochet my friends.
