What to pack….?

yarnpackingI was amused to read a couple of magazine articles about holiday packing. Obviously the key items were there, the large fabulous hat, the huge shades, the flattering swimsuit. I could go on. If you are a yarnster then there needs to be a fairly substantial gap in your suitcase for the holiday projects. This year I have a bit of a dilemma. I am currently working on a couple of commissions using gorgeous snuggly mohair. Ah. Cosy at Christmas – sticky in Summer. So those project might need to be worked on late at night when the temperature is cooler. I will be packing some cotton projects to keep me going as well. I always like to photocopy my patterns for lighter luggage. This year I will be taking one of my own patterns so that will be fun to revisit. I also pack a plastic crochet hook for the plane. This is a wonderful solution and doesn’t risk my expensive metal hooks being confiscated. If you are off on a late summer holiday you might very well pack a couple of books, maybe an e-book reader. But if you are an inveterate knitter/crocheter most of your spare space will be taken up with yarn.

By the way the photograph above shows only half the yarn packed.
