  • Snow did not stop play

Today, school closed a little early – we are not used to this kind of snow before Christmas in England. Little B had his priorities sorted in his head… no question. Basically it involved me getting wet and him laughing.

This was then followed by some archangel making. This little design is all his own making. I say that, but he might have witnessed it from somewhere. However the instructions to his helper were very clear and there were very many prototypes of faces and wings. I tried to participate in the process with the correct amount of gravity. However the end result I am very proud of. No Little B is proud of it. I am proud of him.

  • Lemon Drizzle and Laughs

In the middle of a fun packed day on Saturday, which started with a child’s party and ended with dinner with lovely friends, Little B embarked upon some baking. He has been begging me to cook for a while and luckily time and ingredients coincided at the weekend.

There was A LOT of mess, quite a lot of ‘divaesque’; ‘I just can’t do this!’ but alot of laughter. The most exciting thing it appears is cracking the eggs and stirring them in.

But what really absorbed him was washing up at the end of our session. Quietly he stood on a kitchen chair, singing away to himself as he sploshed through the bowls, spoons and cups.

I stood watching and musing ‘When does washing up turn from fun into a chore?’ Later as I sorted through the draining board I got my answer, ‘When you need something to be clean!’

So much fun, and a yummy end… Mmm

  • A Dapper little Penguin

My son, Little B is obsessed with penguins. He loves them, they are everything that is sweet and funny in his eyes. I have to admit that I find them hilariously funny too. When I began thinking about Christmas I wanted to make him a little Christmas decoration, so Dapper Penguin was born. If I was making him again I would make a longer hanging loop, but I think he looks fine all the same.
Real success can only be declared when the finished product is handed over and a searing critique is delivered. Luckily for me Little B marched up to his bedroom door, removed his Thomas the Tank Engine name plate and placed Dapper Penguin on his door handle. ‘This little penguin, can now announce that this is my bedroom’.
    Phew, one happy Mummy
