Billy Bear is my best beginners toy crochet pattern. I have used this pattern with tutorial photos in many of my beginners classes for first time toy makers. When you buy this pattern you will have a great easy project to make a sweet toy for new baby or toddler.
Suitable for a beginner with assistance – but please take care with the finishing and stuffing!
Billy Bear crochet pattern – working in the round in amigurumi style, body made with minimal seaming, joining as you go. There are also images illustrating how to attach the tail and arms plus the front and back of the toy.
Finished Size Approx: 26cm x 13.5cm
To make the pattern I have used 3 different colours of DK yarn. The pattern uses:
- Sirdar Snuggly 100% Cotton DK in Nude
- Sirdar Happy Cotton in Dolly
- Sirdar Happy Cotton in either (Puff or Beach Hut)
- 1 metre of black cotton for the nose and mouth
- 20g polyester stuffing
- 2 x 9mm black safety toy eyes and washers
- 1 x Tapestry Needle
You will need a 3.5mm crochet hook and some scrap yarn markers, these are used to mark where the row begins and how many rows you have done. You can use some yarn from the kit but we’d recommend some colourful scrap from your stash.
The pattern used UK crochet terms and will print off in 4 sheets of A4 including the front cover.
Stitches Used: Double crochet, Magic Ring, Increasing and Decreasing (dc2inc, dc2tog).
*Please note: this kit won’t teach you how to crochet. But the pattern shows you with photographs some of my key techniques for incorporating limbs into the fabric of your crochet
