What a difference a week makes…

Finally our British Spring has arrived and the sun and the rain has come in equal measure.  The garden has taken on a new growth spurt. It is great that the blossom has appeared and the leaves have begun to emerge on the trees. You know when the leave first appear and are almost luminous lime green.

I took some photos last weekend, between the showers and again this weekend and could spot a palpable difference.

I have decided that this year I get some advice to help us work out which shrubs are really past their best and others which I should keep for structure.

I have also taken some advice from my gardening parents and sown some seeds in drifts. I am hoping this idea works as well for me as it does for them. We’ll see. But really I get so much pleasure just watching it change.

  1. Love the pictures Emma. I have just bought my bedding plants including Livingstone daisies. I buy these every year because my grandfather always planted them. We used to walk round his perfect little patch and look to see if the Livingstone daisies had gone to sleep for the night. As a child I loved the fact they closed their weary little petals for the night – it just seemed magical to me. And so I pass that little story on to my grandfather’s great grandchildren. Unfortunately I don’t have very green fingers but I try!!!

    1. Dear Jude, this is the most wonderful story – it really brought a smile to my face and I am going to get some seeds this weekend in honour of you x

  2. Glad you like it Emma!!! My grandfather was a military man – so his gardening technique meant that marigolds stood to attention!!! Have fun with the seeds!
