Many moons ago I told you about a competition hosted by Yarn Stories to design a square of knitting or crochet inspired by the archives of the Knitting and Stitching Guild. It is an amazing institution and their collection of knitted items and patterns are a wonderful resource for inspiration and research. Why not pop over to their brand new website to have a look.
Well all the entries were short listed and 10 finalists were chosen. I was lucky that my design was in the mix, inspired by their black and white fair-isle items I designed a black and white crochet heart square. I was so thrilled that when the competition went out to public vote, my square came in third.
I actually spotted the final blanket at the Knitting and Stitching show and it is a thing of great beauty. The overall winner was this cable design by Bronagh Miskelly.
But like many of you I loved the fair-isle pattern by Gail Coles.
Anyway if you did vote for me – thank you and it is great to be part of something that will raise money to protect the great collection at the Knitting and Crochet Guild.
