Conway Colourblock Scarf – In progress

Is there an official blog phrase for something you are working on but has yet to reach its final Ta-dah? Anyway, for a while I have been wanting to replicate the pattern used in a blanket which we inherited from Big B’s great grandmother. It is currently draped on a little white tub chair to save the upholstery from the paddy paws of our little fluffy cat. More and more I have been thinking and dreaming about the little zig-zags of the blanket. It has an elegance, a kind of Missoni simplicity which is mesmerising. So one evening this week, I sat on the floor and worked out how it was done. For the seasoned crocheter, obviously it is a rather standard stitch, but I can’t help being a little slow.

I love the colours in this blanket, they are that wonderful mishmash of wools which were obviously all that was available, teamed regularly with some grey which brings continuity, but they work and are such a vintage lift in our room.

Thinking about my scarf I have wanted to make something which will lift my spirits and have longevity through to the summer. You know, something which you can wear with denim and become the focus for an outfit, because it shouts sunshine, so I whipped along to my LYS and picked up some lovely cotton from Sublime. Yummy (Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK) Next week I promise I will tell you what colours I have used, but they definitely do zing. Have a lovely weekend x

The phrase you are looking for is WiP (Work in Progress). Or alternatively UFO (UnFinished Object). Gotta love Blog-talk.
